About me

Maqhaw’ayashiyana | Zulu Translator | Language Activist | Cultural Curator
Born in Esikhaleni Sebomvu, Nkandla, I was named Maqhaw’ayashiyana — "hierarchy in heroism" — a reflection of my purpose to lead in language and cultural preservation. I’m the founder of Urban Zulu Creatives, a language and culture studio specialising in Zulu–English translations, transcriptions, subtitling, script development, and cultural consultancy.

My journey began with a passion for using language as a powerful tool for heritage and storytelling. In university, I created Ingoma Magazine, the first-ever publication dedicated to Maskandi music and its cultural significance — a bold step toward modernising and celebrating isiZulu in digital media.

Through my work, I aim to ensure isiZulu is not only preserved but positioned as a valuable and global cultural asset.
